Lollapalooza Stockholm Unveils 2021 Lineup Topped By Pearl Jam, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone

The 2021 festival announcements keep rolling out with Lollapalooza Stockholm revealing plans for its second edition featuring big stars from a range of genres including Pearl Jam, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, The Killers, Zara Larsson, Veronica Maggio, DaBaby, Kacey Musgraves, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Doja Cat, Alesso, Lewis Capaldi, Playboy Carti and Jack Harlow.

Lollapalooza Stockholm is set for July 2-4 at Gärdet with more than 65 artists on four stages.   

Today’s press release doesn’t mention COVID specifically but seems to acknowledge the pandemic and the promise of the vaccine by saying, “Fueled by recent progress, organizers are optimistic that the festival will enjoy its return” in July. The event made its debut in 2019.

Tickets for Lolla Stockholm are on sale now. Today’s announcement notes that “If for any reason the festival does not take place, ticketholders will have the opportunity to transfer tickets to Lollapalooza Stockholm 2022 or request a refund.” 

The festival is produced by Perry Farrell, WME, C3 Presents and Live Nation Sweden with their subsidiary company Luger.

Sweden’s approach to the pandemic has differed from most countries around the world by initially forgoing mandated lockdowns and instead encouraging citizens to voluntarily social distancing.  After an increase in COVID infections, the government  announced a ban in November on the sale of alcohol after 10 p.m. in bars and restaurants, along with banning public gatherings of more than eight people. 

An independent commission released a report Tuesday saying “Sweden’s government failed to sufficiently protect the elderly in care homes from COVID-19 and is ultimately responsible for the pandemic’s effects in the country.” according to the Associated Press.

Fans are still waiting on 2021 dates and lineup for Lollapalooza’s flagship event in Chicago. The city of Chicago canceled the 2020 festival because of the pandemic in June prior to Lolla going on sale or announcing a lineup.  Festival organizers instead put on “Lolla2020,” a free, four-night virtual festival July 30 through Aug. 2 featuring fan-favorite sets from previous years, brand new live performances, special conversations and more.
