The 200-capacity The Frequency club in Madison, Wis., is closing its doors June 30, “placing the concept of the Frequency in storage until further notice,” according to a statement from the venue. All bookings through June 30 will be honored, but further booking is suspended.

While The Frequency had been able to keep its doors open during extensive street construction, increased costs and low revenue has put us in a position where we need to take some time off to re-evaluate the business as a whole,” the statement read.

The club has remained busy in recent years, and has hosted now-major acts such as Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (2011, sold out) Shovels & Rope (2012), Sondre Lerche (2010) and The Lumineers (2012).

“Our celebration of 10 years of music and a thank you to the community will be Friday June 8, 2018 and Saturday June 9, 2018. These two nights will feature some old and new favorites of The Frequency like Cribshitter, the Skintones, Dead Rider, The Beer Nuts, Cheer Accident, Salamander Exhibit, Faun Fables, and more to be announced.

“The Frequency would like to especially thank Terrin Riemer, Ricky Riemer, Cathy Dethmers, Larry Lichte, all our employees present and past, every artist that we have worked with, every patron who has ever walked through our door, the local press, and city officials who have been an intricate part of making The Frequency a success these past ten years.”

Pollstar has reached out to club owner Darwin Sampson about any further information about reopening or a new location. The local State-Journal newspaper says he is considering opening a new venue on the city’s north or east side.
