MAC Presents founder Marcie Allen

Marcie Allen released a statement today (Feb. 28)  following the publication of yesterday’s Pollstar story:

“Losing my father last year forced me to take some time for self-reflection and have discovered that in addition to building my business, I also want to focus my efforts on helping the next generation of female leaders in the music industry. As a pioneer of music brand partnerships, I am proud of the career and the company I have built and am excited for what the future holds.

“I started MAC Presents in 2004 on my dining room table in Nashville, TN. My goal was to create an agency that connected artists, brands and fans around the world. Since the inception of MAC, I have been extremely fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with many of the world’s leading artists and brands alike. Over the years, I have had several inquiries from companies who were interested in MAC and the great success that we have experienced. After 25 years in the music business, I have decided to listen to the inquiries in greater depth to see if the timing is right for the next chapter as part of a larger company. “

Pollstar has learned that MAC Presents, a long-time leading independent music experiential agency, founded in 2004 by Marcie Allen, is in the midst of talks for an acquisition by several prominent entertainment companies, according to a source.

MAC Presents’ current address, at 7 West 18th Street in Manhattan’s Flatiron District, where the firm has been headquartered for 10 years is being sublet, Pollstar has confirmed.

Over the years, MAC Presents has worked with some of the biggest artists in the world, including The Rolling Stones, Green Day, Billy Joel, Keith Urban, John Legend, Lady Antebellum, and John Mayer, among many others. This while bringing in sponsorships from major brands including Uber, AT&T, Citi, Delta, Samsung, Chrysler, and Microsoft, among others.

In 2010, Allen expanded her business from Nashville to New York City and at its peak employed some 15+ staffers. Allen is easily one of the most decorated female execs in the music business and over the years has been named to numerous Billboard and Variety power lists while along the way winning awards from Clios, Midem, Pollstar, and Event Marketer, among others.

Allen began her career straight out of college working as Marketing Director of Washington, D.C.’s Cellar Door Concerts (now Live Nation) before she became an assistant at William Morris Endeavor in Nashville. She founded her own events company, MAD Booking & Events, which booked New Orleans’ Voodoo Music + Arts Experience, Atlanta’s On the Bricks and Nashville’s Dancing in the District, which developed her relationships with artist managers and corporate sponsors.

Allen also helped families affected by 2012’s Hurricane Sandy and produced a short-form documentary about her experience aiding victims in the Rockaways, “Beach 119”. Allen has served as an adjunct professor at New York University Steinhardt since 2013, sits on the board of directors for The Country Music Association and is on the advisory board for Berklee College of Music.
