United Talent Agency has announced the expansion of its Comedy Touring department with the hiring of agent Mark Gordon, who joins UTA in Los Angeles office before moving to the New York office.
The announcement says Gordon will focus on booking clients in the college space as well as across major territories in the U.S.
“We’ve had an exceptional year in Comedy Touring, from breaking new acts to developing established talent, and we’re excited to continue that momentum in 2019,” said Nick Nuciforo, UTA’s Head of Comedy Touring. “Mark will be a great asset to this growth, bringing his valuable experience in the college and crossover space.”

Gordon added: “Nick and his team have built an incredible department and a market-leading business in Comedy Touring. I’m looking forward to working with the group and building new opportunities for UTA.”

Previously, Gordon worked in the comedy touring department at Creative Artists Agency for five years where he specialized in booking colleges and creating touring opportunities for crossover talent.

In 2015 multiple CAA agents, including Nuciforo, joined UTA, leading to a legal battle in which CAA accused UTA of interference with contracts and breach of fiduciary duty, among other things, in what the agency’s complaint called a “lawless midnight raid.”
In the initial 2015 announcement of 10 agents joining UTA, in addition to Nuciforo and Jason Heyman, comedy agents Martin Lesak, Gregory McKnight and Greg Cavic were included, which appeared to take CAA by surprise.
Pollstar last reported that the case was officially on hold in 2016.
