Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Poison, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts Announce ‘The Stadium Tour’

Four of the most iconic hard-rock acts of all-time announced a summer 2020 stadium tour on Wednesday.

Come July, Def Leppard, Mötley Crüe, Poison and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts will hit the road for “The Stadium Tour,” playing more than 20 U.S. stadiums.

The trek begins at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium on July 7, and will hit stadiums including Houston’s Minute Maid Park (July 15), San Francisco’s Oracle Park (July 19) and San Diego’s Petco Park (July 23) later that month.

In August, the tour will wind its way through several prominent Midwest and East Coast venues, including Atlanta’s SunTrust Park (Aug. 9), New York’s Citi Field (Aug. 23), Boston’s Fenway Park (Aug. 25), Chicago’s Wrigley Field (Aug. 28) and Denver’s Coors Field (Aug. 30).

The four bands will wrap the tour with two September shows, at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park (Sept. 2) and Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium (Sept. 5).

Two of the acts on the bill, Def Leppard and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the fearsome quartet’s combined commercial success is dizzying: two diamond-certified albums, 12 multi-platinum-certified albums and 7 platinum-certified albums between them, per the RIAA.

The biggest news of the bunch, of course, is Mötley Crüe, which made headlines in November when its members reneged on the cessation of touring agreement they entered into ahead of their farewell tour earlier this decade. Crüe played what was allegedly its final show on at Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Dec. 31, 2015, capping an impressive half-decade of touring that landed the band on Pollstar’s Year End Top 200 North American Tours chart every year from 2010 to 2015. Over that time, Crüe grossed $125.9 million on the continent.

The other acts remain strong live draws, including Def Leppard, which has secured a spot on Pollstar‘s North American touring chart every year since 2011. Last year was particularly lucrative for the band, which secured a No. 12 ranking on Pollstar‘s Year End Top 100 Worldwide Tours chart via a co-headlining trek with Journey that grossed $97.8 million.

Jett and Poison each appeared on Pollstar‘s North American touring chart once this decade, in 2016 and 2012, respectively. Poison’s 2012 tour, notably, was a co-headlining outing with Def Leppard and grossed $14.1 million.
