My Chemical Romance Expands North American Reunion Tour

My Chemical Romance just added 14 new arena shows to its long-awaited North American reunion tour, which is finally set to hit venues this summer. The shows include 10 new cities, along with additional nights at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, Boston’s TD Garden and a fifth night at the Forum in Inglewood, Calif., with an announcement citing “overwhelming demand.”

MCR first reunited on stage in December 2019 with a show at Los Angeles’ Shrine Exposition Hall on Dec. 20, marking the band’s first first concert in more than seven years.

The North American reunion tour was supposed to launch in September 2020 but, like most 2020 tours, it was postponed to 2021 because of the pandemic. The band then pushed it back once more to 2021.

Six of the new shows have been added to the start of the tour, which will now kick off Aug. 20 in Oklahoma City, Okla., at the Paycom Center. Other new stops include San Antonio, Texas; Nashville; Cincinnati; Raleigh, N.C.; Belmont Park, N.Y.; Albany, N.Y.; Uncasville, Conn., Montreal, Quebec; and Portland, Ore.

The itinerary includes several venues MCR played on its 2007 arena tour including

Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena (formerly known as Air Canada Centre), where the band sold 9,063 tickets and grossed $295,186 and Sunrise, Fla.’s FLA Live Arena (previously known as BB&T Center) – 6,101 tickets sold, $166,252 grossed. Gerard Way & Co. also played the Forum in 2007, grossing $405,259.

Support on the tour includes, in alphabetical order: Badflower, Devil Master, Dilly Dally, GHÖSH, Kimya Dawson, Meg Myers, Midtown, Nothing, Shannon and the Clams, Soul Glo, Surfbort, Taking Back Sunday, The Bouncing Souls, The Homeless Gospel Choir, The Lemon Twigs, Thursday, Turnstile, Waterparks, Youth Code.

MCR is playing a number of festivals this year including Aftershock in Sacramento, Calif.; When We Were Young in Las Vegas; and Firefly in Dover, Del.

Tickets for the new shows go on sale this Friday, March 11th at 12:00 pm local time.
