The Howard Hughes Corporation – which acquired full ownership of the Triple-A affiliate of the MLB’s New York Mets, the Las Vegas 51s earlier this year – has contracted the global architecture firm HOK to design the Las Vegas Ballpark in downtown Summerlin.
The new stadium will be eight acres south of City National Arena in downtown Summerlin, part of the planned community that includes retail, entertainment, office, hotel and residential elements.
“Home of City National Arena and the Vegas Golden Knights, downtown Summerlin is adding yet another feather to its cap with the addition of the Las Vegas Ballpark and the Las Vegas 51s,” Summerlin President Kevin T. Orrock said. “Already considered a top dining, retail and entertainment hub, downtown Summerlin is on its way to becoming an unmatched sports destination. We could not be more excited to add baseball to our line-up.”
Summerlin is a planned community that is partially in Las Vegas and partially in Clark County, and is home to more than 100,000 residents.
