Niall Horan Royal Albert Hall Livestream To Support Crews

Niall Horan announced a concert streamed live from London’s Royal Albert Hall, Nov. 7.

Produced by Driift, and captured with multiple cameras, the show will feature Horan and his full band, with the performance live-streamed across the world and time-zoned to specific regions. 

Tickets start at £16 ($20). All profits from the show will be shared between Niall’s touring crew who are currently unable to work.

Additionally, ticket buyers have the option of donating to the #WeNeedCrew relief fund. As the name suggests, the fund was created for the UK’s live music touring crews, who are at breaking point and have no government support  schemes to fall back on.

Like governments all over the world, the UK’s has failed to recognize that the live business isn’t structured in the way most economies are and therefore to include it in its rescue funds. The prevalence of highly skilled individuals not necessarily part of a corporate structure is disproportionately high in live.

“The pandemic has brought touring to its knees. Touring crew, the highly skilled team members that leave their homes sometimes for years at a time to tour with artists of all levels, have no financial support from the government.

“Many of these crew are the sole earner for their household, have families that they can no longer provide for, and mortgages that they can no longer pay. Countless amounts of crew are losing their homes, businesses and lives as they know it because of their lack of income,” the announcement of Niall Horan’s Royal Albert Hall performance states.

The #WeNeedCrew campaign is organized in collaboration with the #WeMakeEvents campaign, which has developed from a UK to a worldwide initiative.

Horan commented, “I know that live events are something we all miss, and until we are able to return I want to highlight the incredible people who work in touring that make those events possible and whose livelihoods have been severely affected. 

 

‘I’m putting on this gig to try and raise awareness of the immense value they bring to an industry enjoyed by so many, and do something to help them and their families. I ask all my fans to support them with me and buy a ticket if you can, and I encourage all artists to do the same.”

The livestream is produced by Driift, and will commence at the following local times, with fans able to choose whichever stream they prefer:  

Livestream #1: UK, Ireland & Europe (Saturday, Nov. 7 – 8 p.m. GMT, 9 p.m. CET) 

Livestream #2: North America (East Coast) & Central/South America (Saturday, Nov. 7 – 8 p.m. EST, 10 p.m. ART/BRT) 

Livestream #3: North America (West Coast) (Saturday, Nov. 7 – 8 p.m. PST) 

Livestream #4: Australia, New Zealand & Asia (Sunday, Nov. 8 – 8 p.m. AEDT, 10 p.m. NZDT, 6 p.m. JST & KST)
