Ohio’s Inkcarceration Festival Announces Lineup

Ohio’s Inkcarceration Festival will return for its second year in July.

Inkcarceration Music and Tattoo Festival returns to Mansfield, Ohio’s Ohio State Reformatory — best known as fictional Shawshank Prison from “The Shawshank Redemption” — in July for a second year, and announced its lineup Tuesday.

Shinedown, Godsmack and Five Finger Death Punch will headline the festival, slated for July 12 to 14. Other noteworthy performers include Live, Taking Back Sunday, Seether, Buckcherry, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Andrew W.K. and P.O.D.

All three headliners are reliable box office draws. According to Pollstar data, over the last three years Shinedown, Godsmack and Five Finger Death Punch have averaged grosses of $320,503, $356,375 and $354,958 per show, respectively. Shinedown is already slated to perform at Jacksonville’s Welcome to Rockville festival in May, on a bill that also includes Tool, Rob Zombie, Korn, Incubus, Judas Priest, and Evanescence.

Performers will descend on two outdoor stages, but music is only one element of the festival’s many offerings. Inkcarceration will also host seventy tattoo artists, serve gourmet food and drink and facilitate tours of the reformatory, which held inmates from 1896 to 1990 and is now listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

Additionally, the festival will stage a July edition of the reformatory’s popular Escape From Blood Prison haunted house, which typically operates from late September to early November.

Weekend passes are on sale now beginning at $139, and attendees can also purchase tent camping and RV camping passes for an additional $175 and $299, respectively.

Inkcarceration debuted in 2018 with a bill topped by Rise Against, Bush and Black Label Society.
