Patti Smith has announced that she will be teaming up with Substack for a special night of music, readings and conversation on Feb. 2 at 8 p.m. ET.

The event will see Smith streaming live from the iconic Electric Lady Studios exclusively for her Substack subscribers, with viewers having the ability to request songs and readings. Smith will also be joined by her longtime collaborators, Lenny Kaye and Tonya Shanahan, for the event.

Smith first launched her Substack in April 2021, and has seen her sharing poetry, music, audio and video notes, as well as her serialized longer work, The Melting. Subscribers to Smith’s Substack will receive an email with a unique ticket link and instructions in order to view the live stream, which will be available for 24 hours following its initial broadcast.

Smith released her last studio album, Banga, in 2012, while her most recent book, Year of the Monkey, was published in 2019. In 2020, Smith teamed up with Soundwalk Collective for the meditative album, Peradam

Smith’s two performances at City Winery in New York City on Apr. 9 and 10, 2021 grossed a total of $21,320, according to reports submitted to Pollstar‘s Boxoffice. Ahead of the COVID-19 pandemic, Smith had toured through South America, with her stops in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Santiago, Chile grossing $172,111 and $167,328, respectively.

Smith and her band will also be performing at the Brooklyn Steel on Feb. 22 for their first in-person concert. Last month, the rock icon had received the key to New York City, where Smith’s career first began.
