Pink’s first four Australian shows of her current massive run, all at Perth Arena July 3-7, proved a tourism bonanza for the city.

Figures released by the Western Australia government and hospitality sector showed that of the 59,553 fans who attended, 6,000 came from interstate and overseas, while another 10,600 traveled from the state’s regional areas.

Those shows grossed more than $7.6 million as reported to Pollstar.

Sport and recreation minister Mick Murray said, “With one in four concertgoers visiting from outside Perth, local restaurants, hotels, bars, retail outlets and other small businesses saw millions of dollars of benefits.”  A quarter of the visitors planned to visit the rest of the state. Murray also noted the value of the 14,846-capacity Perth Arena in boosting the local economy and creating jobs.

Australian Hotels Association chief executive Bradley Woods put the spend of Pink’s non-Perth fans at A$9 million ($6.6 million).

Some hotels experienced up to a 300 percent uplift in revenue on the week of the shows, with number of room nights exceeded 11,000. Daniel Finch, managing director of travel website Wotif reported an immediate increase in accommodation interest after tickets went on sale October 2017.

“In the last week, year-on-year travel interest was up over 135% for Perth CBD and over 60% for (the) Northbridge (entertainment precinct),” Finch said. Fans’ spend at bars and restaurants near Perth Arena had a 30 percent uptick on each of the show nights.
