SMG Europe today announced DC Thomson Media, which owns The Press and Journal and Evening Express, as naming rights sponsor for its new events complex in Aberdeen, Scotland. The Event Complex Aberdeen (TECA) will be known as P&J Live going forward. Financials of the deal were not disclosed.

Nick Waight, managing director at P&J Live, said “We are thrilled to announce P&J Live as our official venue name, having a brand which has strong roots in Aberdeen is incredibly important to us and the partnership with DC Thomson Media is hugely positive for our business and pivotal to the success of this transformational project.”
Aberdeen’s new conference and exhibition center is scheduled to open this summer, offering 48,000 square metres of multi-purpose event space including a 12,500-capacity concert arena, located next to Aberdeen International Airport.
It has been constructed with the environment in mind, boasting its own energy centre, which will use local renewable resources and modern technologies to produce an energy eco-system.
Future events at the venue include Rod Steward (June 12), Elton John (Nov. 20/21), Russell Howard (Sept. 20), Alice Cooper (Oct. 5), Lewis Capaldi (March 12, 2020), Disney on Ice (Oct. 31-Nov.3) and more to be announced.
The first exhibition at the P&J Live will be SPE Offshore Europe, Sept. 3-6.
