The nonprofit Noise For Now has added performances by St. Vincent, Grizzly Bear, Portugal. The Man and Andrew Bird to its series of concerts benefiting organizations that empower women’s rights and protect their health and abortion rights.
“A Noise For Now show is one in which all or a portion of the proceeds from the show go to the partnering feminist and pro-choice organization,” according to the Santa Fe, N.M.-based organization. “Musicians recover the travel and staffing costs associated with playing a show.”
The upcoming shows are Portugal. The Man (Sept. 13, Avondale Brewing Company, Birmingham, Ala.); Grizzly Bear & A Hawk and a Handsaw (Sept. 14, Bridge at Santa Fe Brewing Co., Santa Fe); St. Vincent and Andrew Bird (Sept 18, Santa Fe Opera House).
Past shows include Spoon, Fleet Foxes & Beach House, and Bon Iver, TV on the Radio, Tune-Yards, Lower Dens, and Heather Trost. The Spoon show was reported to Pollstar as selling 867 tickets and grossing $28,407.

“Grizzly Bear’s Daniel Rossen and visual artist Amelia Bauer, a member of Santa Fe NOW, approached Ami Spishock of Fort William Management and Samantha Kirby Yoh of William Morris Endeavor to collaborate on the first NOISE FOR NOW benefit concert. The response was overwhelming,” according to the organization.
Organizations that have benefited include Planned Parenthood Southeast, the Pro-Choice Safety Network Fund, Santa Fe NOW, and Santa Fe NOW Action Network.
Noise For Now specifies that,  for the shows, “The partnering organization may have a presence at the event if they choose, in order to distribute literature about their organization, recruit members, and/or sell merchandise related to the organization. The organization will NOT be authorized to sell merchandise that makes use of the musicians’ name or image, or is in conflict with the musicians’ own merchandise.” More information is available by contacting the organization at https://noisefornow.org/contact.
