Prince On The West Coast?

Next month you might just get the chance to catch Prince at an intimate venue like the 700-capacity DNA Lounge in San Francisco or the 1,130-capacity Showbox At The Market in Seattle. The news comes to you via the Purple One’s new backing band, 3rd Eye Girl.

The members of 3rd Eye Girl announced the dates last night in a podcast on DrFunkenberry.com. Because, of course, Prince couldn’t do something more typical like send out a press release or keep an official website (or Facebook or Twitter page) to post his dates.

“We have a tour coming up that is still in the planning process,” the 3rd Eye Girl drummer Hannah Ford-Welton told Dr. Funkenberry. “And we’re still in discussion over different venues and what not, but we do have some specific details that we can share.”

Below you’ll find the itinerary, according to the Girls. Keep in mind that the band warned the excursion is still in the planning stages – and as of the time of this post, the shows were not listed on the venues’ websites.

“I’m sure more [dates] will be added and all kinds of exciting stuff will come along, you know, along the way,” Ford-Welton added. “But as of now, that’s what we know.”

The tour’s timing does correlate with the announcement Jimmy Fallon made earlier this month when introducing Prince’s performance on the “Late Night” show, saying that His Highness would “kick off a West Coast tour in mid-April.”

According to Dr. Funkenberry, Prince will perform two shows a night and fans can expect ticket information to be announced “in the next week or so.”

While we wait for a more official announcement and/or ticketing information, check out Prince, backed by 3rd Eye Girl, performing “Bambi” on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.”
