ReConnect: Beatport To Host Worldwide 34-Hour DJ Streaming Marathon

Beginning on Friday, March 27, at 8 p.m. GMT, Beatport will broadcast a live, 34-hour global DJ marathon in partnership with Twitch, dubbed ReConnect.
24 artists including Carl Cox, Bonobo, Nina Kraviz, Griz, RÜFÜS DU SOL (DJ set), A-Trak, Nicole Moudaber, Chris Liebing and Nora En Pure, will be performing from their homes or studios around the world.  Full lineup below.
During the live stream on Twitch, viewers can make donations. The money will be administered by the AFEM (Association For Electronic Music), the non-profit trade association for the electronic music industry.

AFEM will distribute the funds to the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund as well as the AFEM Members COVID-19 Hardship Fund.

Beatport will also be working with industry partners to give away gear and merchandise to randomly selected donors during the live event, as well as providing track IDs for songs so fans can purchase any of the music they hear and thus support the independent artist and label community directly.
Beatport CEO Robb McDaniels commented: “Over the past few weeks, we have seen so much of humanity come together as one to battle the escalation of the Covid-19 virus in an effort to protect the most vulnerable. With so many of us sheltered in our homes, wanting to stay connected to the people and music that plays such a positive role in our lives, Beatport and the passionate DJ community we work with on a daily basis feel compelled to deliver a
unique music experience directly into homes across the world.”
A similar initiative was recently launched in Berlin, Germany, the Mecca for underground club culture. To absorb at least some of the damage COVID-19 has had on their businesses, the city’s clubs launched a digital club on March 18 that is currently being streamed online.
The stream changes venue every day and boasts a great lineup. Viewers can donate as well, and, after six days, some €240,000 of a total goal of €1 million have been raised.
