Riley Gale, the 34-year-old lead singer for Dallas-based thrash band Power Trip has died, according to family.

“Riley was a friend, a brother a son. Riley was both a larger than life rock star and humble and giving friend,” a statement from the artist’s family reads. “We will celebrate Riley’s life and never forget the great works of music, charity, and love that he left behind.”
The band, known for its faithful yet fresh rendition of thrash metal akin to the likes of Slayer and with critical acclaim for its latest LP, 2017’s Nightmare Logic, was growing as a touring band, headlining clubs in 2018 and supporting well-regarded heavy bands like High On Fire, The Black Dahlia Murder and Trivium, as well as landing high-profile festival slots like Exit 111 in Tennessee.
An outpouring of support followed the news of Gale’s passing, with bands like Hatebreed, Knocked Loose, Code Orange, Anthrax and many others paying tribute on social media, including festival promoter Danny Wimmer Presents, which wrote “Rest In Power, Thrash In Peace, Riley.”
Power Trip is represented by Ground Control Touring and managed by AJM.
