Rock Hall 2021 Spectacular: Roger Davies on Tina Turner, Rob Light Talks Carole King, Michael Rapino on Jay-Z, Irving Azoff On Clarence Avant, The Go-Go’s on The Go-Go’s & More!

Pollstar has unveiled its 2021 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Special featuring honorees and industry heavyweights discussing this year’s inductees.

 
The issue features a cover story on the regal, fierce and divine Tina Turner, with insight from esteemed manager Roger Davies, along with tributes from Cher, Billy Gibbons, Pink, Carrie Underwood, Grace Potter, Patty Loveless and Yola. 
 
Other features include a Q&A with CAA’s Rob Light on working with legendary “Natural Woman” Carole King, as well as an interview with her daughter/manager Sherry Kondor of Good Noize / CK Production. Jimmy Jam and Irving Azoff also took part in interviews to pay tribute to Clarence Avant, the 2021 Rock Hall Ahmet Ertegun Award honoree. Plus, Live Nation’s Michael Rapino congratulates hip-hop mogul Jay-Z, CAA’s Marlene Tsuchii chats about the brotherhood of the Foo Fighters; and Pollstar features editor Deborah Speer offers a look at the wizard known as Todd Rundgren.  Here too Gil Scott-Heron’s son Rumal Rackley discusses his father’s enduring legacy and CAA’s Emma Banks discusses Kraftwerk who she says were “unparalleled in their influence.”

In addition to penning the cover story on Turner,
Pollstar contributing editor Holly Gleason celebrated The Go-Go’s by interviewing members Belinda Carlisle, Gina Schock, Jane Wiedlin, Charlotte Caffey and Kathy Valentine, as well as Ginger Canzoneri, the band’s original manager. Gleason also wrote a local’s guide to Cleveland and a think piece on the impact of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
