The Rock ‘N’ Roll Triple Play Ballpark tour kicks off July 22 at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, Del., and will make stops at diamonds across the country, including Fifth Third Field in Dayton, Ohio (July 27), Dunne Tire Park in Buffalo, N.Y. (August 1), Victory Field in Indianapolis (August 4), Principal Park in Des Moines, Iowa (August 11), the Blair County Ballpark in Altoona, Pa. (August 21), and Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo, N.D. (September 2).

Presale tickets will be available to Counting Crows fan club members May 29, with public sales beginning a few days later. Complete details on all on-sale dates are available on the band’s Web site.

Crows frontman Adam Duritz explained the band’s reason for hitting smaller markets instead of major metropolitan areas.

“I grew up in a college town and I’ve always loved those kinds of places,” Duritz said in a statement about the tour. “That’s why Counting Crows has always done so many tours outside the big cities.”

“This is a big country and, as much as I love a city [Duritz lives in New York], too many bands forget that there’s a hell of a lot of America out there that’s not New York or Chicago or L.A.”

Duritz said he’s also excited about the tour because it means working with old friends and touring partners Live and Third Eye Blind, who played their first show ever opening for the Crows at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco.
