Rolling Stones Announce European Stadium Tour ‘Sixty’

The band returns for two concerts this year, with Steve Jordan on drums.
The Rolling Stones return to Europe this summer to play 14 shows in ten countries, including two nights at British Summer Time Hyde Park in London, England, and their first concert in Liverpool, England, since more than 50 years.
The tour, titled “Sixty” in celebration of the legendary band’s 60th anniversary, kicks off June 1 at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, Spain, and closes at Stockholm, Sweden’s Friends Arena, July 31.
Munich, Germany (June 5), Amsterdam, Netherlands (June 13), Bern, Switzerland (June 17), Milan, Italy (June 21), Brussels, Belgium (July 11), Vienna, Austria (July 15), Lyon, France (July 19), Paris, France (July 23), Gelsenkirchen, Germany (July 27) are on the itinerary as well. The three UK shows stand out. The June 9 concert at Anfield, home of Liverpool FC soccer club, will mark the Stones’ first performance in Liverpool in over 50 years. The two performances at American Express presents BST Hyde Park in London, June 25 and July 3, are the only two non-stadium shows on the entire 14-date trek.

The Stones performed one of the most legendary concerts of all times at the park in 1969.
The Stones’ and London go way back. Their July 12, 1962 gig at the Marquee Club launched one of the most incredible live careers of all times. The free 1969 “The Stones in the Park” festival attracted between 250,000 and half a million people – the true number will never be known – to Hyde Park.
They returned just once in 2013, for the premiere of BST Hyde Park, where they played two sold-out shows to 130,000 fans, resulting in the award-winning concert film ‘Sweet Summer Sun: Hyde Park Live’, directed by Paul Dugdale.
Promoter AEG Presents is sure that “this year’s Stones show will go down in history as well.” Jim King, CEO of European festivals at AEG Presents, commented, “Whenever Hyde Park is mentioned, it’s impossible not to think of The Rolling Stones. Two nights on June 25th and July 3rd cap off an incredible line up for BST Hyde Park 2022 but nobody brings it like the Stones when they’re on home turf in London.”
On the “Sixty” European tour, The Rolling Stones will once again be joined by frequent long-time collaborator Steve Jordan on drums. Jordan had also stepped in after Charlie Watts’ passing on Aug. 24, 2021, just a month before the band’s last previous tour, “No Filter,” kicked off in the U.S.
The North American leg of “No Filter” was the highest grossing tour of Pollstar’s 2021 chart year, bringing in $115.5 million and more than 516,000 tickets over the course of just two months.
The European leg of “No Filter,” had already wrapped in 2018. Just like “Sixty” it began with 14 stadium shows, scheduled between Sept. 9 and Oct. 25, 2017. Another 14 dates were added between May and July 2018.
Pollstar received 25 box office reports from that tour, and combining both legs, the Stones rolled up a total gross of $236,545,265 and moved 1,506,259 tickets on their last visit to Europe.
