‘Round Midnight Preserves’ Livestream Benefit Concert Set For June 20 With Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Dave Grohl, Elvis Costello, Dave Matthews & More

– Round Midnight Preserves

“Round Midnight Preserves” is the place to be (virtually) on Saturday, June 20 for the chance to catch live performances along with never-before-seen archived collaborations and interviews with Preservation Hall Jazz Band and special guests Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, Irma Thomas, Elvis Costello, Dave Matthews, Arcade Fire, Jon Batiste, Jim James, Beck, PJ Morton, Nathaniel Rateliff and more.
The free event will be collecting donations to support the Preservation Hall Foundation’s relief efforts, with Spotify matching dollar-for-dollar donations up to $10 million through its COVID-19 Music Relief Fund.
The concert, which is hosted by Preservation Hall’s Ben Jaffe and directed by longtime ‘Hall collaborator and Danny Clinch, is inspired by the famed concert series “Midnight Preserves” held annually at Preservation Hall jazz venue in New Orleans during the city’s Jazz and Heritage Festival.
Jaffee created the series in 2012 as an opportunity to provide visiting artists an opportunity to perform at the Preservation Hall and collaborate with Preservation Hall musicians, as well as raise funds for the Hall’s philanthropic work.
The Preservation Hall’s Musical Collective, which is made up of 60 musicians, usually perform three to seven shows per night for up to 170,000 people annually. With touring and events shut down because of COVID-19, including the Hall shutting its doors in mid-March, the Preservation Hall Foundation established the Legacy Emergency Relief Fund to help provide financial assistance and support to the collective’s members who were out of work because of the pandemic. As the Preservation Hall Foundation’s website points out, the artists in the Collective are so important to the musical community as they serve as mentors, teaching artists and tradition bearers.

“Round Midnight Preserves” will be livestreamed on the Preservation Hall Foundation’s website, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch accounts from 8 pm-11 pm C.T.
“This event is a testament to the power of music to unite and heal during the most trying of times. That power is nowhere more apparent than New Orleans and the musicians at Preservation Hall. They have earned and deserve all the support we can give,” Jaffe told Pollstar.
Along with making donations, fans can take part in a live auction to win four “Big Shot” seats to a show at Preservation Hall along with four tickets to a show in the U.S. by Dave Matthews Band, Foo Fighters, Elvis Costello, Beck, Jim James/My Morning Jacket, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, and Jon Batiste.
Spotify previously named the Preservation Hall Foundation’s Legacy Emergency Relief Fund as one of its COVID-19 Music Relief Partners.
“It’s our great pleasure to partner with the Preservation Hall Foundation, which is so beloved, it’s no wonder so many incredible legendary names have signed on to help raise funds for artists in need,” said Ed Suwanjindar, the Team Lead, Content Experiences and Music Pilots & Programs at Spotify, who leads the COVID-19 response for Spotify’s Music team.
He added, “Livestreamed benefits like this are inspiring, and we’re so grateful to everyone showing up virtually to make it happen. Most importantly, it’s going to be a great show.”
