Cher has been presented with an award in recognition of her first ever performances at The O2 arena. She performed for two consecutive nights, Oct. 20-21, as part of her “Here We Go Again” tour – her first tour in over 14 years.
Cher last played in London in 2004, May 21-22, at Wembley Arena during her “Living Proof: The Farewell” tour. Her promoter Barrie Marshall told Pollstar that the O2 concerts surpassed those performances.
“Cher’s visit to the O2 was a memorable experience for everyone on these two sold out shows. She is the ultimate star who has charisma, stage presence and a unique and remarkable voice. It was a pleasure to see the audience arriving with high expectations and no one leaving until the last note had left the stage,” he said.
Marshall continued: “She has been captivating  people across America – and in recent weeks across Europe, with her stunning show. There is no doubt that Cher is totally unique.  Not just because of the incredible costumes that never fail to impress –  but because her voice is stronger than ever – and as distinctive as ever.    This show has a great balance between the music and the production, the way she engages the audience and how her ‘story’ is woven into the show – in terms of clips of her movies, her awards and, of course, her success with Sonny.
“Sonny and Cher  were so different from any other Artistes when they burst onto the music scene in the 60’s but then she went on to make new music and establish herself as a very accomplished  and Award winning actress. Her beauty is undiminished  – she is ageless . Cher is such a professional, with a tremendous sense of humour.  Her recent link with Mama Mia – is just engaging a whole new audience of fans – that is growing by the day.

“We, at Marshall Arts, will long remember these two special evenings at the O2 – and how the audiences on both nights walked away with an absolute sense of joy !
It is a real privilege to be working with Cher, and her wonderful team led by her special manager Roger Davies.  We are very proud of our long-standing  relationship with her and feel that she will be delighting the world for many more years to come and hope we will be there to enjoy even more of the journey.”
Christian D’Acuna, Head of Programming, The O2 said: “It was an honour to host the first Cher show in London since 2004, when The O2 wasn’t even in existence and it was well worth the wait! What a show, full of 50 years’ worth of hits, uncountable costume changes, multiple wigs and fascinating anecdotes.
“We hope she doesn’t leave it so long to return next time. Thank you to Marshall Arts for promoting the tour and of course to Cher, for an incredible couple of nights at The O2.”
Other first-time performers at the O2 in 2019 include Daddy Yankee, Khalid and Post Malone, who grossed $3,318,776 on two nights, March 13-14, when he sold out 36,380 tickets, according to Pollstar box office data.
Bjork, Jim Jefferies, Krept & Konan, Liam Gallagher, The Chemical Brothers, The Lumineers and The World of Hans Zimmer are all set to perform before the end of the year. The venue will also welcome its youngest headline artist yet, Jojo Siwa, in November.
