‘Sheeran Fever At Its Peak’: Ed Sheeran Breaks Attendance Record In Iceland

Close to 50,000 people saw Ed Sheeran play the Icelandic capital, Aug. 10-11
The two Ed Sheeran concerts in Iceland’s capital Reykjavik, Aug. 10-11, have become the country’s biggest ever gigs, according to promoters AEG Presents and Sena Live.
Close to 50,000 people, or one in seven Icelanders, attended the two performances at Laugardalsvöllur stadium.
Simon Jones, AEG Presents SVP Live Music International, said: “Though the biggest tour in history is coming to an incredible crescendo the records keep coming for Ed.
“These historic shows in Iceland were like nothing I have ever seen. They completely took over the country with Sheeran fever at its peak. It was absolutely a national event and the scale of the shows relative to the population was colossal. The biggest ever Icelandic shows in history.”
Earlier this year AEG Presents had announced that it had promoted the biggest concerts in South African history with Sheeran.
Ed Sheeran’s Divide Tour was recently named the highest-grossing as well as most attended tour of all time. More than 8.5 million fans will have seen the artist live by the end of the tour, Aug. 26 in Ipswitch, England. At that point, Sheeran will have played 255 concerts in 170 venues in 45 countries.
