Smokin Grooves Festival will make its grand return after four years on March 19 at LA State Historic Park with a lineup topped by Erykah Badu, Nas, Miguel, Jhené Aiko, and The Roots.

The roster, which promises “a timeless Neo-Soul experience with a modern twist,”  is rounded out by internet, Flying Lotus, Kasami Washington, Thundercat, Smino, Hiatus Kaiyote, Sir, Little Dragon, Toro Y Moi, Misuq Soulchild, India.Arie, Macy Gray, Angie Stone, Leela James, Talib Kweli, Roy Ayers, Dead Prez, Slum Village, Dwele Joe Kay, Ravyn Lenae, Phony Ppl, Bilal, Goapele, Fousheé, Free Nationals, Yussef Dayes, Charlotte Day Wilson, Domi & JD Beck, Unusual Demont, Daydream Masi, Blu & Exile and Jelani Aryeh.

Smokin Grooves first started back in 1996 with the intention of touring more hip-hop oriented lineups to counteract the rock-heavy festivals of the decade. However, the festival only lasted a few years. 
In 2002, Smokin Grooves came back as an amphitheatre tour headlined by CeeLo Green, OutKast, Lauryn Hill, and more. The tour’s show at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, Calif. grossed $379,584 while a show at Northwell Health At Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, N.Y., according to reports submitted to Pollstar’s Boxoffice. The 14-stop run sold a total of 116,330 tickets and grossed more than $3 million.
The festival returned once again in 2018 and took place in Long Beach, Calif., at Queen Mary Events Park with a lineup featuring Badu, The Roots, Anderson .Paak, Thundercat, and more.
A presale starts on Friday, Dec. 3 at 10 a.m. PT. Fans can sign up now for early access to passes via the festival’s official website smokinggroovesfestival.com. Remaining tickets will go on sale Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. PT. GA tickets start at $184.99, while VIP tickets, which are only available to festival attendees 21 and older, are priced at $399.99.
