Star-Studded Grammy Event To Salute Elton John; Miley Cyrus, Sam Smith, Kesha, Chris Martin, More

Elton John: I’m Still Standing” will salute the career of legendary musician Elton John, Jan. 30, just two days after the Grammy Awards, at the Theatre At Madison Square Garden to be later broadcast on CBS.

Artists participating in the event include Miley Cyrus, Kesha, Miranda Lambert, John Legend, Little Big Town, Chris Martin, Maren Morris, Sam Smith, and Keith Urban, with additional performers to be announced later.

Sir Elton will also take the stage to perform a selection of songs. “Elton John: I’m Still Standing” is produced by AEG Ehrlich Ventures, with Ken Ehrlich and Rac Clark the executive producers, Ron Basile the producer, and David Wild the writer.

“Elton John is an undeniable force within the music industry, and I can’t think of a better musician to honor at this special GRAMMY Salute,” said Ken Ehrlich, executive producer of AEG Ehrlich Ventures. “We’re proud to pay tribute to his artistry, and can’t wait to see what the participating musicians have in store for this momentous celebration of Elton’s work.”

“Sir Elton John is an international music legend who has captivated audiences across generations for more than five decades,” said Neil Portnow, President/CEO of the Recording Academy, who is also scheduled to speak at the upcoming Pollstar Live! conference in February.

Elton has been busy on the road this year, with multiple engagements at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace and arena shows across the globe.

Box office reports submitted to Pollstar for 2017 include March 21 at Tucson Arena, which sold 8,199 tickets and grossed $984,95, Nov. 11 at Ford Center in Indiana, which sold out at 10,319 tickets and grossed $1.05 million, and a bunch of Australian dates promoted by Chugg Entertainment, including Sept. 24 at WIN Entertainment Centre in Wollongong, which sold 20,285 tickets and grossed $2.45 million.

For 2018, Elton has 27 Caesars dates from Feb to May, as well as a few more international shows including June 30 at the Black Sea Arena in Skekvetili, Georgia.

He was No. 65 on Pollstar’s 3Q Top 100 Tours based on worldwide ticket sales reported at the time.
