Taylor Swift Dominates Pollstar’s Elite 100

As expected, a full week of data following Taylor Swift releasing her new reputation album has meant a blood bath on the charts, with Swift’s score of 1,391 just under 17 times higher than the next-closest on Pollstar’s Elite 100 Artists chart

From Nov. 10-16, Swift sold more 1.3 million album copies, according to the BuzzAngle Music .

The release of the album was followed by the news of the first leg of her “reputation Stadium Tour,” produced by Messina Touring Group and AEG Presents in North America, with Live Nation handling yet-to-be-announced overseas dates.

Dates include May 8 at University of Phoenix Stadium, May 12 at Levi’s Stadium, May 25 at Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver, July 10 at Fedex Field in Washington, D.C., Aug. 4 at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Sept. 8 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, and Oct. 6 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Holding strong from last week but a very distant second is Sam Smith, whose The Thrill of it All album sold 34,800 copies in the week ending Nov. 16 and who has a score on the chart of 81.9 for the week.

Pollstar, with the BuzzAngle Music-powered Elite 100 Artists Chart, gives a snapshot of the week’s top-selling artists based on music sales and streaming, counting data from the U.S. and Canada.

All product, not just current releases, by that artist are included in the figures and the total for ranking purposes is based on an album sale equaling 1, 10 song sales equal 1 album, and 1,500 on-demand streams equal 1 album.

The next-highest album sales total this week was from Kenny Chesney, with 34,600 which may bode well for ticket sales as his live album Live In No Shoes Nation actually comes with a concert ticket. The 49-year-old country singer has another full slate of stadiums lined up for 2018, starting at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa April 21, and taking in venues including Mapfre Stadium in Columbus and Ford Field in Detroit and ending at Nashiville’s Nissan Stadium on Aug. 11.

Eminem continues to make noise on the chart with reports of his Revival album dropping soon, and hopefully a tour announcement to go with it. His new single featuring Beyoncé, “Walk On Water,” helped him get to No. 7 on the chart this week, with strong song sales and streaming activity.

Notably, Drake is back at No. 4 after last week leaving the Top 5 for what was likely the only time in the existence of Pollstar’s Elite Artists chart. Drake was also just announced as favorite hip hop artist of the year on the American Music Awards.
