The Industry Pays Tribute To The Late, Great Michael Gudinski

Yesterday, March 1, the live industry across the world suffered an enormous loss as one of its most beloved figures, the great Australian promoter and label head, Michael Gudinski, passed away at the age of 68. For over five decades, the legend in his own time, promoted countless shows with his Frontier Touring by some of the greatest artists of all time,  released so much great music on his Mushroom label and, despite engaging in innumerable hard-nosed negotiations essential to this business, somehow managed to make legions of lifelong friends and admirers, many of whom took to social media to pay tribute.

in lieu of flowers or gifts, the family have requested donations to the music industry network SUPPORT ACT

“End of an era.  He was everything to importing and exporting music in and out of Australia.   My heart goes out to Sue and the family.  He was one of the greatest promoters that ever lived.”   – Irving Azoff, Chairman & CEO, The Azoff Company
