In commemoration of the day of action taken by the entertainment industry one year ago, organizers of the original #TheShowMustBePaused campaign today announced the “Still Paused” campaign to follow up on the previous promises made and solidarity shown.
The original #TheShowMustBePaused campaign was started by Jamila Thomas  senior director of marketing at Atlantic Records – and Brianna Agyemang  senior artist campaign manager at Platoon and former senior director of marketing at Atlantic on June 2020  in the wake of the national reaction to the killing of George Floyd in Minnesota, and saw many media and entertainment companies blackout all new content to express solidarity in a movement calling for more accountability within the industry.
Today, the Still Paused campaign is calling for companies to utilize public self-accountability reports that call for five things companies have done to move toward equitable change in the past year.
“As we look back on the past year, we would like to say thank you to the partners who have made it a priority to join us in this work,” Agyemnag and Thomas said in a statement. “While this year has been rocky and extremely unpredictable, we are proud of what we’ve accomplished, and it wouldn’t have been possible without your support. This launch of this new initiative marks us formally asking people to turn their black boxes into actionable change for individuals and companies alike. ”
Pollstar participated in the #TheShowMustBePaused campaign in 2020 and announced, among other things, the creation of the “Voices Of Live” series to better represent more diverse perspectives in the industry.
