Toby McKeehan, the Christian rapper and singer better know as TobyMac, has announced the 2022 iteration of his annual “Hits Deep Tour.”

McKeehan begins his trek at First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro, Ark., on Feb. 9, 2022, and will play 29 shows in 26 cities, concluding at Pittsburgh’s Petersen Events Center on April 2, 2022.

Along the way, he’ll hit stops at venues including San Diego’s Pechanga Arena (Feb. 22), Denver’s Ball Arena (March 3) and New York’s Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden (April 1). The tour includes two-night stands at Toyota Arena in Ontario, Calif. (Feb. 18-19); Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence, Mo. (March 18-19); and Baltimore’s Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena (March 26-27).

Presented by Awakening Events, the tour will feature support from Crowder, Cain, Cochren & Co and Terrain.

“The heart behind Hits Deep is to bring together artists that not only have hit songs, but  songs that hit deep in our hearts,” said McKeehan in a statement. “We’re back for another year and this  one is going to be special. We’re talking hit, after hit, after hit with some of my favorite  artists!”

Even before the live industry made a more complete return earlier this summer, McKeehan had toured heavily during the pandemic, with drive-in shows and reduced-capacity arena gigs. His top-earning box office report of 2021 was a three-night March run at Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas, where he sold 7.780 tickets and grossed $354,186. Those shows were followed in gross by his two-night February run at Tampa’s Amalie Arena, where he sold 5,538 tickets and grossed $236,624.

“It wasn’t about wanting to be the first,” Awakening Events owner Dan Fife told Pollstar in March. “But we did feel there was a need to say this can be done and done safely. It was a stepping stone for the fans in coming back as opposed to us waiting until we could do 100% cap. To have these social distance shows and see the ticket scanners welcoming people you would think it was their first day on the job. As they were thanking people, you could see the smiles in their eyes.”

In 2019, TobyMac ranked No. 122 on Pollstar‘s year-end North American touring chart, with $9.2 million grossed. He came in No. 39 on that same chart in 2020, with $5.4 million grossed. At midyear in 2021, he ranked No. 4 on the North American touring chart, with $1.9 million grossed.
