Tomorrowland & Rock Werchter Partner For Core Festival Premiere In Belgium

Two of Belgium’s main events, Tomorrowland and Rock Werchter, are joining forces to create a brand new two-day festival in the Belgian capital of Brussels. It’s called Core Festival, and the premiere will go down May 27-28.
No lineup has been announced yet. Core Festival describes itself as a boutique event, bringing together nature, live music and art at Osseghem Park in Brussels.
Few details have already been announced: Core Festival will feature four stages spread across the park, which will be open from noon until just after midnight. The festival’s programmers aim to break boundaries between indie, hip hop, electronica, hyper pop and alternative dance from newcomers and established international artists alike. Capacity at the non-camping event is 25,000 per day.
Rock Werchter is promoted by Live Nation Belgium, headed by Herman Schueremans. Tomorrowland is promoted by founding brothers Michiel and Manu Beers, who run their own company called We Are One World. “Seeing festival organizations of this magnitude coming together and sharing the same ambition is unprecedented,” according to the announcement.

Philippe Close, the mayor of Brussels, commented, “We are very proud that Tomorrowland and Rock Werchter, two of the most important players in the world of music, are coming to Brussels with this new concept. A total experience of music, art and nature. Brussels celebrates and thus enables the event, cultural and hotel industry to breathe again.”
The general sale opens Feb. 24. Day tickets start at €67 ($75), weekend ticketa at €123 ($139) (including service costs). VIP tickets and packages including hotel accommodation will also be offered at corefestival.com.
