Travel App Stay22 Racks Up $100K In Commissions For Promoters, Artists

Montreal-based startup Stay22, which connects event-goers with lodging accommodations, is delivering on its promise to create revenue for events and platforms that use the company’s map, with $100,000 generated so far according to the company and top earners being Everfest, Disco Donnie Presents, and Pearl Jam.

“Stay22’s product technology and commission structure are helpful tools to promoters like ourselves,”  James “Disco” Donnie Estopinal, veteran dance music concert promoter and now part of the LiveStyle family, told Pollstar. “The company’s hotel widget embeds in our event pages makes the task booking a hotel easier and more intuitive for fans. Stay22 also resolves a key promoter pain point through providing on-demand access to sales metrics so that we can understand hotel campaign performance, including commissions.”
 

Stay22 is an accommodation solution tailored for event travelers, with an interactive map that lets fans curate their event experience based on event rather than city. 

“Our goal is to create ease for event travelers,” Stay22 founder Andrew Lockhead said in a statement. “We are gratified to see our partners and their customers benefit from Stay22, and expect even more growth in the months to come through new partnerships,”

Since its founding in October 2016, Stay22 has partnered with 700+ events in over 20 countries. The company boasts a conversion rate of 5.8% across all its segments, which it says is nearly 2.5 times as high as the next leading online travel agency (2.4%).

Further elaborating on how the service works, Stay22 marketing director Mohamad Al Sadoon previously told Pollstar, “Eventgoers get the lowest prices available online at the time of booking, from AirBNB, hotels, hostels, and any other listings. It’s venue-centric so the event-goer will have an easier way to find the perfect accommodations. Everything is there by hovering over the event listing. They can see how long it will take how long to reach the venue or event and what means of transportation are best suggested there.”

Pearl Jam was the first band to partner with the company. 

“Pearl Jam recognizes the value and convenience we can bring to their Ten Club members,” Lockhead said. “We’re grateful for this partnership, and we look forward to providing a high-quality experience for their fan base when searching for the best deals for their stay during their upcoming U.S. shows.” 

The band played baseball stadiums in store for this summer, including shows at Safeco Field in Seattle, Wrigley Field in Chicago and Fenway Park in Boston. Stay22’s map has access to 6.5 million listings worldwide.
