Coldplay’s average gross decreased as reports came in from the band’s U.S. arena dates rather than the  larger European stadiums the band had been playing on its “Head Full Of Dreams” tour.

Chris Martin and the gang still averaged 64,396 tickets sold per show, for an average gross of $6.27 million. However, it wasn’t enough to top U2 (No. 1), which is also playing stadiums in the U.S. and has a higher average ticket price, at $113.22 average to Coldplay’s $97.45. U2’s The Joshua Tree 2017 tour is grossing an average $7.4 million per show and 65,417 tickets.

The most recent Coldplay (No. 2) box office reports submitted to Pollstar include Sprint Center in Kansas City Aug. 15 (12,971 tickers, $1.73 million gross), CenturyLink Center Omaha Aug. 14 (13,009, $1.43 million), and two nights at the Bell Center in Montreal Aug. 8-9 (35,731 total tickets, $4.03 million gross) – all of which sold out.

The band still has five dates in South America in November and just wrapped up U.S. stadiums including Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, The Rose Bowl in Pasadena and Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, which would surely bump up their tickets sold and average gross.

Guns N’ Roses’ (No.  3) average gross is a bit less than the top two, at $4.82 million per show, but the band still has 20 U.S. arena dates coming up on its “Not In This Lifetime Tour” and was already No.  1 on Pollstar’s Top 100 Tours for 3Q 2017.

Rounding out the top 5 are once again Celine Dion ($3.8 million average gross, 26,937 average tickets) at No. 4 and Lady Gaga at No. 5, with average gross of $3.5 million and 29,370 tickets.

Celine’s average ticket price of $141.10 puts her ahead of Gaga despite Lady G selling an average of 2,433 more tickets per show.

Gaga still has 20 U.S. arena dates on the books for her “Joanne World Tour” in 2017, so a big jump is likely for her on the year-end Top 100 Tours chart.
