French promoter and festival producer Olympia Production, a subsidiary of Vivendi, announced today that it had signed an agreement to acquire Garorock, one of the country’s largest music festivals.
Garorock takes place at the end of June in Marmande, South-West France. It has a daily capacity of 45,000 people.
The festival was launched in 1997 and grew into a four-day event that counted 145,000 people in total this year, with a lineup that included Macklemore, Marilyn Manson, Indochine, Charlotte Gainsbourg, DJ Snake and more.
Olympia Production also owns Les Déferlantes and Live au Campo in Perpignan, as well as Brive Festival in Brive-la-Gaillarde.
All three festivals attracted record crowds in July 2018, growing their attendance by 17, 15 and 30 percent, respectively, Olympia Production wrote in a statemnt.
Olympia Production is the sister company to U-Live, the live arm of Vivendi-owned Universal Music in the UK.
It also promotes more than 35 artists, mostly musicians but also comedians, and covering a wide variety of genres.
Details of the 2019 artist lineup will be released in December.
