It was unclear whether any money had changed hands, but the new deal will see VNUE – which records live performances of shows and then sells them to attendees at the recorded show – taking control of Set.fm, a DIY platform for artists to record their live show and upload the content onto fan’s mobile devices during gigs.

“Our goal is to take success of Set.fm and further develop it into a truly professional platform that will work for the major artists for whom VNUE produces live recordings, and for up-and-coming indie artists alike,” CEO and Chairman of VNUE Zach Bair said. “The addition of Set.fm to our suite of product offerings creates a dynamic, scalable new platform for instant live recordings that will be unparalleled in the direct-to-fan market.”

VNUE includes Father John Misty, Blondie, Keith Urban, 3 Doors Down, Peter Frampton, Good Charlotte and more among its past clients. Set.fm boasts tens of thousands of users and thousands of artists registered with the platform.
