Young Thug To Headline ‘Family Business’ Festival Concept At Dallas Bomb Factory

Rapper Young Thug tops the lineup of a new festival concept by AVI Entertainment in partnership with AEG Presents, with the “Family Business” festival taking place Aug. 31 at The Bomb Factory in Dallas.

“We’re not about being the multi-stage festival with three stages and everyone and their mother on the lineup,” said Cameron Almasi of AVI Entertainment. “There’s enough people in the market and very respected people doing that already. We don’t want to get in that lane. There’s so much opportunity right now with hip-hop, there’s so many things that haven’t been done yet.”
The basic concept is a boutique curated event in a larger club setting, with seven additional artists to be announced May 29.
“The best shows I went to growing up were indoors and with such a good lineup that no matter what, I wouldn’t leave to get a beer, use the restroom, I didn’t take my eyes off the stage, and that’s where Cameron and I saw eye to eye,” said talent buyer and co-founder Sam Alavi, adding that they are working on multiple markets for 2020. “We want to highlight that feeling to the biggest capacity possible without losing that vibe.”
The inaugural Family Business event was being organized as AEG Presents took over booking at the venue, which Almasi said was a blessing.
“They’ve given us so many resources to utilize and we have a great plan together and can really grow this beyond just Texas,” Almasi said, also crediting Young Thug’s management at First Access Entertainment and UTA’s Mike Guirguis, who added that he welcomes outside-the-box ideas.
“Family Business approached us with a unique opportunity to not only participate in their festival but have ownership for one of the most important acts we represent,” Guirguis told Pollstar. “Being in business with Young Thug, we’re always looking to think outside the box and go the extra mile to secure our acts with unique non-traditional music opportunities. At the end of the day, we want to build businesses for our acts in conjunction with their touring careers.”
Tickets go on sale May 31.
