The first time these two bands toured together was back in 1974 when ZZ Top invited Lynyrd Skynyrd to join “The Outlaw Tour.” While ZZ Top still boasts its original lineup of Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard, Lynyrd Skynyrd experienced tragedy when a 1977 plane crash took the lives of founding members Ronnie Van Zant and Steve Gaines. Today’s band features Van Zant’s brother Johnny along with founding member Gary Rossington plus Rickey Medlocke, Michael Cartellone, Mark “Sparky” Matejka, Robert Kearns, Peter Keys, Dale Krantz-Rossington and Carol Chase.

The “Rebels & Bandoleros Tour” begins in Wichita at the Intrust Bank Arena May 12, plays the Bell County Expo Center in Belton, Texas, May 13 and stops at the Zoo Amphitheatre in Oklahoma City May 14.

Other dates include May 19 in Bangor, Maine, at the Waterfront pavilion; May 20 in Big Flats, N.Y., at the Tags Summer Stage; May 21 in Albany at the Times Union Center; May 22 in Youngstown, Ohio, at the Covelli Centre; May 26 in Peoria, Ill., at the Civic Center Theatre; May 27 in Lampe, Mo., at the Black Oak Mountain Amphitheatre; May 28 in Bossier City at the CenturyTel Center and May 29 in Orange Beach, Ala., at the Amphitheater At The Wharf.
