This month, Red Bull Music Festival descends on Atlanta and Chicago.

Red Bull Music Festival is bringing a diverse slate of programming to Atlanta and Chicago this month.

For the first half of November, the event, which has also held editions in New York City and Los Angeles, is making its Atlanta debut. The programming for the event, which began Nov. 1 and runs through Nov. 14, includes several typically unique and intriguing bookings.

Coach K, who founded influential Atlanta rap label Quality Control, will participate in a talk on Nov. 8, which will be followed by an all-night party featuring the DJs for QC acts Migos and Lil’ Yachty. Recent Pollstar cover artist Ari Lennox will perform with the TCB Band on Nov. 11, and Teyana Taylor will stage an elaborate show on Nov. 14.

Additional bookings include Yung Baby Tate and a special edition of OHSO’s hip-hop party Bounce Dat.

And, last night, Red Bull hosted a roundtable about the history and influence of trap music with innovative artists DJ Toomp, Shawty Redd and Zaytoven; the discussion is now available for free streaming.

After a two-day gap, Red Bull Music Festival will then relocate to Chicago, where it will stage its second Windy City event Nov. 17-30. The event will begin with a bang when foundational house DJs including Derrick Carter, Steve “Silk” Hurley and Ron Trent take over Metro and SmartBar for a 12-hour dance party honoring the 50th anniversary of influential record store Gramaphone Records.

Several recent Windy City musical luminaries will also stage events. Peter CottonTale, Chance the Rapper’s musical director, will debut Praise Break, which will showcase young talent blending gospel music with the current Chicago aesthetic. Chance affiliates Saba and Pivot Gang will play two fundraisers for Chicago youth in the arts, and Jamila Woods will reinvent her acclaimed 2019 album Legacy! Legacy! on stage.

Meanwhile, Lupe Fiasco will perform his beloved 2006 debut album Lupe Fiasco’s Food & Liquor – for the first time ever in Chicago.

This year, Red Bull Music Festival returned to New York City for a seventh year, hosting artists including including FKA twigs, Tierra Whack, Teyana Taylor and Rosalía.
